Favorite Houston Restaurants

For all my Houston folks and per the request of one of my friends, here are all my favorite restaurants in Houston. These are just MY opinions. My friends and I are already arguing about what's the best queso or bbq, so if you think I am completely wrong or have other suggestions I would love to hear them. I am a big foodie and am always looking for good, new restaurants.

Breakfast/Brunch

  1. Coco’s Crepes- $ I’m just going to say it… Coco’s crepes is so much better than sweet Paris. Their turkey cheddar crepe is delicious
  2. Avalon- $ Classic 50’s diner feel, great service. Make sure you go for breakfast! I love their chocolate chip pancakes and limeade.
  3. Juicewell and Juiceland- $ Juicewell has amazing açaí bowls. Juiceland has amazing smoothies with all natural ingredients and no added sugar.
  4. Goode company taqueria- $ Best breakfast tacos. Wesley swears by them. Do yourself a favor and get the cinnamon milkshake!
  5. Weights and Measures- $$ Their soft polenta is my absolute favorite brunch food ever. They also bake all of their pastries and pastas in house (YUM) and if you go there for a late dinner you may be able to snag a few free leftover pastries.
  6. State of Grace- $$ Love this place for brunch, sit over by the windows and bring someone to share the plates with. The dutch baby is heavenly. They also have $1 oyster happy hours on weeknights!
  7. Snooze- $$ You can’t go wrong with snooze, they have all the breakfast classics with a yummy twist. However, I do not think their food is necessarily worth the super long wait they always have.
  8. Common bond- $$ Common bond is delicious AND it is the cutest. Their pastries are on point and their French toast is amazing. Great place to walk in to grab a quick latte and a macaron.

Lunch

  1. Central market- $ Central has the best sandwiches ever, THE CALIFORNIA CONNECTION. Once you have one you can never go back to normal sandwiches. They also have a great salad bar.
  2. Phat Bao- $
  3. Turkish empire grill- $ Love Turkish food and this place is one of the best in Houston. If you come here you need to get the red lentil soup.
  4. 100% taquito- $ Great, cheap, authentic Mexican tacos. Served classic style with cilantro and onions… my mouth is watering.
  5. Jenny’s noodle house- $ No words, I just love this place!
  6. Seaside Poke- $$ Okay, my friends make fun of me for how much I obsess over this place, but I LOVE poke, and Seaside makes the best poke in Houston. I usually build my own with half rice, half salad, tuna, green onions, sweet onions, corn, sweet shoyu sauce and sriracha aoili, top it off with avocado, seaweed salad and some chili oil. Petition to create a Jaya Bowl in process.
  7. Relish- $$ The relish grilled cheese is absolutely delicious. It is so greasy and you feel like crap after you eat it, but it’s so worth it.
  8. Tiny’s or Tiny’s No. 5- $$ I honestly just come for the mint lemonade and cookies. BUT the food and atmosphere is perfect. Get the pesto turkey sandwich or the salmon provincial and enjoy some time outside in *nature*
  9. Flower Child- $$ Yummy and healthy!
  10. Vibrant- $$ Try the salmon rice bowl!
  11. Cafe Brasil- $$ My friend told me about their crispy kale and rice bowl and it is so so good and healthy. My sister also swears by the kale Caesar salad. She likes to go to read a book or get homework done.
  12. Hopdoddy- $$ In my opinion, Hopdoddy has the best burgers in Houston.
  13. Piola- $$ Because who doesn’t love a good pizza?

Dinner

  1. Pho Saigon- $
  2. Nippon- $$ My family loves sushi, so Nippon is our favorite because it is more low-key than a super fancy sushi restaurant, but is still super good. The sushi is more traditional Japanese.
  3. Bombay brasserie- $$ I had to put an Indian restaurant on here… and this is my family’s favorite. Their butter chicken is just so good. And try a mango lassi!!
  4. Pit room- $$ Best bbq in Houston.
  5. Dolce Vita- $$ Great pizza! GREAT CARBONARA. Good atmosphere, definitely a good date spot.
  6. Pepper Twins- $$ The BEST kung pao chicken. Anything you get here will be delicious.
  7. Etoile- $$ Really good French food that is actually super reasonably priced. Also a good date spot! The chef is amazing the food is top notch.
  8. Escalantes- $$ I had to put a Tex-Mex place on the list, and I think escalates has the best queso in Houston.
  9. Coppa- $$$ Honestly, this place reminds me of middle school birthday dinners, but their ravioli and fried chic peas are so good.
  10. BCN- $$$ My sister’s friend’s family owns this restaurant and they are from Spain and it is delicious authentic food. Their new restaurant MAD is about to open! Do not miss the Spanish omelette!!!!
  11. Doris Metropolitan- $$$ This is an Israeli steakhouse and it is so yummy. They also have the most amazing bread and flavored butters, oddly enough. Get the artichoke salad – trust me.
  12. Kata Robata- $$$ Kata is on the more expensive side, but it is one of my favorites for special occasions. You have to get the miso baked cod! It is to die for. Definitely call ahead for a reservation or be prepared for a long wait.
  13. MF Sushi- $$$ This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Houston. Sushi is my favorite food and MF does it best. MF stands for magic fingers for a reason.
  14. Steak 48- $$$ Again, great for special occasions. Great steaks and oysters. Definitely on the pricier side, but worth it.

Dessert/ Drinks

  1. Cavo- $ My favorite coffee place. Their chai lattes are so good.
  2. Tea house- A St. John’s staple. Peach green tea with tapioca always.
  3. Pinkberry- $ If you don’t know, now you know.
  4. Creamistry- $ This place has nitrogen ice cream and it is amazing.
  5. Tiny’s Milk and Cookies- $ favorite ice cream: milk and cookies ice cream. Delicious coffee, PUMPKIN BREAD and cookies. It is attached to Tiny’s No. 5 in West U.
  6. Tiff’s Treats- $ I used to be absolutely obsessed with this place, but I ate it too many times, so I am currently taking a break. Distance makes the heart grow fonder, right?
