In Houston we only have 2 seasons, summer and winter, so here are my spring/summer essentials. These are pieces I wear almost every day and pieces that are the foundation to a great wardrobe. Can you tell I'm excited for summer?
- Jean shorts– Jean shorts are such an essential. The agolde ones are my favorites. They are more expensive, but you wear jean shorts almost every day in the summer, so I think they are worth the splurge. They go with literally everything, and you can dress them up with a blouse or dress them down with a tee and tennis shoes.
- Flowy shorts– Flowy shorts and a white tee is my go-to summer outfit. It is comfy and cute and is so easy. I feel like flowy shorts used to be super in like 2 years ago, but I have been scouring the internet looking for a new pair and they are nonexistent. Whatever, I still love them!
- Sundress– A sundress in the summer time is like a little black dress. It is so easy and cute and you get a super cute outfit with minimal effort or thought. I normally buy my sundresses from princess polly. They are super cute and pretty good quality at a really affordable price.
- Jumpsuit or romper– Like a dress, jumpsuits and rompers are great in the summer because you can look super put together even though you just threw one piece of clothing on.
- Graphic tee– Graphic tees are perfect for summer. They go with everything, like a skirt or jean shorts, if you are trying to be more on the casual side. I normally thrift my graphic tees because you can find super nice ones for a fraction of the price. I just got a mother one the other week that is usually $100 for $10. What a steal!
- Flowy pants– Flowy pants are like everything I said about flowy shorts, but in pant form. I am currently obsessed with paper bag pants. Ugh so cute. Zara actually makes really good quality culottes.
- White bodysuit– A white bodysuit is a must. They look great with a skirt, or fun pants, or jeans if you are going out. I tried to just buy a cheap one from brandy Melville, but it was such a fail. It was super thin and see through, so I could never find the right bra to wear with it and it was just a mess. I would definitely get a good quality one, I promise you will get the wear out of it.
- Floral skirt– I love skirts in the summer. I think they are so cute and feminine, but at the same time are so easy. I love the casual look where you style a skirt with a graphic tee and tennis shoes, and I love dressing them up with a body suit or blouse. The loveshack fancy skirts are adorable, but I cannot justify spending over $300 on a skirt. I normally just buy mine from Zara or princess polly and they work great.
- White blouse– I am loving eyelet blouses at the moment. When you want to be more dressed up, a white blouse looks amazing with jeans or a skirt. My favorite white blouse is the madewell courier shirt. It is just so easy and versatile and I love it.
- White jean jacket– A white jean jacket is the perfect thing to throw over your outfit if you’re in a place that gets a bit chilly at night. They are so versatile and are nice enough to wear with a dress.
- Bikini that fits like a glove– It is super important to have a bathing suit you love and feel comfortable in for the summer. It is also super important to have a bathing suit you can tan in. I love the strapless one from pilyq. We Wore What x Onia also has super cute ones but at a higher price.
- White sneaker– When I go on trips in the summer, a white sneaker is a must. They are the perfect, comfy walking shoe and they go with everything. Win win, right? I wore my Stan Smiths to death (RIP), so I just got a pair of Kenneth Cole white sneakers and I am absolutely obsessed with them. My sister just got a pair of P448’s and she loves them, they are a white sneaker with a fun twist (*sparkles*)
- Platform sandal– I love platform espadrilles in the summertime. They go with everything and are just so cute. I have the Soludos ones and I love them, BUT for some reason they make my ankle twist a lot. Proceed at your own risk…
- Sunglasses– These are my favorite sunglasses at the moment. I have really been eyeing the ray ban hexagon ones and the Illesteva ones. I might just have to pull the trigger and treat myself to a new pair.
- Woven purse– Ok a woven purse isn’t a necessity but they are so freaking cute I had to put them on my list. They literally just scream summer and go with everything and I love them.
- Layered necklaces– I love dainty layered gold necklaces. They look so gorgeous in the summer with tan skin and just really elevate an outfit. I really like the greek coin ones.
- SUNSCREEN– I cannot stress how important sunscreen is. You must must must wear sunscreen everyday, especially in the summer. It protects you from skin cancer, sun spots, and wrinkles. My favorite sunscreen is Elta md, and it is super lightweight and does not even feel like you are wearing sunscreen. I promise, you will thank me later in life.
